Living with an Autoimmune Disease
Living with an Autoimmune Disease, can be very challenging as many illnesses, can very well mask other illnesses and diseases without us even realising it. One disease that can be mimicked is Irritable Bowel Syndrome, as this could very well be Coeliac / Celiac Disease. This can sometimes make have a diagnosis very difficult, due to the nature of how the body can really mask an underlying illness.
For years I found it extremely difficult to gain weight, and ended up becoming more and more ill each time, I ended up with one infection after another. Admissions into hospital became far more frequent and for longer periods each admission. Only from really understanding health and how it can really give you a wake up call, just so that you will listen. Twice from these recurrent infections, I ended up in Intensive Care.
The medical care that I have received over the years has been Exemplary and no one could have asked for better health care. I can not blame the medical profession from not, recognising these underlying medical conditions. They were treating the major health concerns first, and where not looking for the underlying health issues. It cannot be over emphasised enough, when in doubt as far as health is concern ask questions, this can sometimes be the only way to get answers.
I queried why I had been getting ill, simple by asking if I Coeliac / Celiac Disease. Another time I asked if I could have a condition called Bronchiectasis. This condition in itself can be related to Cystic Fibrosis, though can be brought on by other medical ailments.
There is a huge list of different Autoimmune Diseases, and with just one being left undiagnosed can lead to other illness developing at a later stage, in the process.
