What is the difference between a Wheat Free vs Gluten Free Diet?
There is a distinct difference between a Wheat Free vs Gluten Free Diet. Just because it states that a food is free from Wheat, does not necessarily make it Free From Gluten. Going gluten-free is a new experience, with so much food and produce available your diet does not need to be bland. New textures and flavours, just waiting to be tried. At one point this diet seems, to have not much scope. The challenges ahead are just, the starting point.
Going shopping, you start to read the ingredient list. Stopping only to realise that you this is not for me. One piece of advice though on this journey that lies ahead. Not everything that is in a package, is going to be safe on the road ahead.
Never stop reading, or asking questions when in doubt. With lots of fruit and vegetables, meats, fish and pulses, your diet is going to change your way of life.
Do not be offended if there is something you do not eat. There are options here for you as well, so you do not need to go without.
All too often people ask me. But what can you eat? Most of them get shocked to hear, when I turn it around and explain that the way I look at it, is seeing all the good things I can eat.
Yes there will be many trials along this whole new journey. You really have to check out different foods, to find out what things you like. Try a different blend of flour, even making some of your own. You may not initially like some new foods that you try or blends of flour’s that you have never tasted before. It will take time to get used to this new way of life, especially if your are diagnosed with a gluten sensitivity or Coeliac Disease / Celiac Disease.
